Esther B. Cherek, 92 of the town of Franzen, died on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at her home under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care & Hospice Services.
Esther was a homemaker for many years and enjoyed quilting, crossword puzzles, playing Scrabble and reading. She also enjoyed watching and feeding the birds. Esther was an active member of St. Ladislaus Catholic Church, Bevent, and a lifetime member of its Rosary Society.
Esther is survived by six children, Tony (Jan) Cherek of Weston, Joan (Ray) Kiewit of Cornucopia, Vicki (Steve) Peterson of Eland, Dorothy (Marty) Snyder and Mary Jo Oliver all of Stevens Point and Jacob (Sandra) Cherek of Spencer; 16 Grandchildren; 22 Great-Grandchildren; sister, Millie Wanserski of Plover; step-sister, Lorraine Janick of Plover and sister-in-law, Cecelia Bronk of Sussex.
Esther is preceded in death by her husband John, parents, daughter Susan Cherek, son Robert Cherek, daughter-in-Law Rose Cherek, stepmother Anna Bronk and her siblings, Leonard, Robert, Hubert, Margaret Sorensen, and Louise DeKeyser.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00AM on Friday, February 23, 2018 at St. Ladislaus Catholic Church, Bevent. Fr. Augustine Bentil will officiate. Interment will be in the Parish Cemetery. A Rosary will be recited at 9:30AM by the St. Ladislaus Catholic Church Rosary Society with visitation at the church beginning at 9am until the time of Mass.
