RHINELANDER, WI (WSAU) — The man accused of killing Hannah Miller this summer says he wants to hire his own lawyer instead of the one provided for him by the court.
For the second time in as many weeks, Christopher Terrell Anderson was in an Oneida County courtroom on Monday where he announced his intentions to bring in outside counsel instead of his current defender, identified by court records as Scott Franklin Anderson.
Attorney Anderson confirmes that the 30-year-old Anderson has indicated to him he’d like a different representative but has not indicated that he has hired someone else.
During an earlier appearance on November 22nd Anderson also indicated that he and his family were looking for private counsel, but weren’t sure how long it would take to hire someone.
Anderson, also known as DJ Bravo or Bravo, did not appear Pro Se (representing himself) on Monday. A preliminary hearing in the case has been scheduled for December 6th.
He faces a mandatory life sentence if found guilty of the homicide charge.
Anderson is accused of killing Miller in late June then leaving her body along the side of a road. He was arrested more than a month later after a multi-state manhunt that stretched from Minnesota to Illinois, where he was found in Carol Stream in late August. Anderson and Miller were said to be in an abusive relationship and did have a child together. That child is staying with Miller’s family.
Another man, Seth Wakefield of Rhinelander, is accused of knowing about Anderson’s plot to kill Miller and helping him carry out the plan by surveying Miller’s apartment to see if she was home.
