KRONENWETTER, WI (WSAU) — Trustees in Kronenwetter held a closed-session meeting on Monday regarding Administrator Richard Downey, though details of what prompted the discussion are not being released.
According to the agenda for a special meeting held Monday, the Board was set to consult with the Village Attorney regarding “consideration of dismissal, demotion, licensing or discipline of any public employee or person licensed by a board or commission or the investigation of charges against such person,” along with “employment, promotion, compensation or performance evaluation data of any public employee over which the governmental body has jurisdiction or exercises responsibility.”
Both of those matters specifically indicated that the discussion would center around Downey.
A recording of Monday’s meeting published on the Village website indicated there was no open-door discussion regarding the closed session. Tuesday’s regular agenda does not feature any discussion regarding Downey.
The board also passed a measure to amend the Village budget for legal services, adding over $6,500 to the general fund for legal fees by reducing costs in other areas. That included a reduction in expenses in six other areas. That plan was prepared by Downey himself according to the agenda packet.
WSAU News has reached out to both Village President Chris Noll and Administrator Downey for comment, but so far has not heard back. This story will be updated as needed.
